“RecycleMore” is a West Contra Costa County public agency officially known as the West Contra Costa Integrated Waste Management Authority (WCCIWMA) or “Authority”.
The Authority is a joint powers agency formed by its Member Agencies which include the cities of El Cerrito, Hercules, Pinole, Richmond, and San Pablo, and unincorporated Contra Costa County (i.e., El Sobrante, North Richmond, Tara Hills, Rollingwood, East Richmond Heights, Bayview, Montalvin Manor). The service area consists of approximately 74 square miles located within the boundaries of these agencies in Western Contra Costa County. The population of the RecycleMore service area is approximately 250,000 people residing in 75,000 households. Learn more about the Joint Powers Authority Agreement (JPA).
The Authority manages the processing and disposal of garbage, recyclables and compost generated in its service area and collected by its Member Agencies franchised collection services provider(s). In addition, the Authority manages its Member Agencies Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection program.
The Authority is also responsible for developing and implementing programs to assist its Member Agencies compliance with California State laws such as AB 939, AB 1826, and SB 1383, which mandate reducing the amount of waste materials sent to landfill for disposal.
