FAQ
We’re excited to welcome you to Recycling Update 2026 — the 30th Anniversary of this beloved conference! This year we’re at a new venue: San Francisco State University. Since the conference falls during Spring Break, campus will be quieter than usual, which works in our favor.
1) ARRIVAL & PARKING Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes early. Be sure to review the Parking app instructions before you arrive. You can’t prepay the day before.
Important Note: It’s about a 10-minute walk from the Parking Garage on State Drive to the Creative Arts Building. Volunteers in bright vests will be stationed along the way. Golf cart rides are available if requested from the Office in advance.
2) QR CODE: Have your registration QR Code on your phone (via this email or a saved photo). We can also check you by name, but you may be directed to another line.
[The email you recieve will have a QR Code. Bring up the QR code on your phone for quicker entry.]
3) CHECK-IN: (7:30am – 9am) There will be two check-in locations at the Creative Arts Building, both clearly marked with stanchions and staffed by volunteers using tablets and phones:
- McKenna Theatre entrance on Holloway Avenue
- Double doors facing the Cesar Chavez Student Center
After 9am, please use the McKenna Theatre entrance.
4) NAME TAGS & MORNING PASTRY: We’re using pre-printed name tags this year. After check-in, head to Room 153 to pick up your name tag and enjoy pastries and hot beverages.
Please note: Food and beverages are not allowed in McKenna Theatre – water is fine. Volunteers will be at the theater doors as a reminder.
5) SPEAKERS AND VOLUNTEERS: Unless you have been asked to do otherwise, after getting your name tag, please go to the NCRA Office, which is a table in the Theater Foyer adjacent to the Box Office.
6) PROGRAM: The full program is available here. No printed copies will be available, so we encourage you to pull it up on your device, and if-need-be print it out in advance.
7) LUNCH: Lunch will be served at the Cesar Chavez Student Center, just north of the Creative Arts Building. Volunteers will guide you to the lines for vegan/vegetarian/carnivore.
8) GREEN DRINKS: Join us from 5:30pm– 7:30pm at the Seven Hills Conference Center (near the Parking Garage) for appetizers, beer, and wine — with music by DJ Trim!
9) TOUR: On Tuesday, March 24, we will be touring The Wild Oyster Farm Eco-Center and Pier 96, Recology SF’s Recycle Central. There are a few spots left. Register today!
One important heads-up: We’ll be moving between several buildings throughout the day. A detailed printable campus map is available here [pdf] and on the Directions page – we recommend having it handy.
If-need-be, in-person registrants may attend virtually.
No need to change your ticket.
