Expanding Access to Home Composting Education

San José has the largest population of Vietnamese people outside of Vietnam, and until October 2025, The City of San José had not provided any Home Composting classes in the Vietnamese language. This presentation will talk about how City of San José staff utilized creative problem-solving skills and grant funding to overcome barriers that had prevented Vietnamese home composting classes from being actualized in the past. This presentation will reflect on the planning and coordinating efforts across multiple agencies and will also include participant feedback and lessons learned.
