Steve Lautze has 45 years of experience in the reuse and recycling field, starting as student co-manager of the fledgling recycling operation at Stanford University in 1981. More recently, over the past 25 years, he has focused his energy on recycling market development, including 15+ years leading the California Assn. of Recycling Market Development Zones, and co-founder of the Recycling BIN (Build Infrastructure Now) Coalition. He was also President of NCRA in 1995, when Recycling Update got its start, and has served as the senior member of the RU Program Committee for the past five years. He joined the Introduction To Recycling Teaching Team in 2024.
